The Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour was started to enable our junior golfers to gain regular local tournament playing experience and allow them to become the best golfers they can be. Above all, we hope they learn to love the game.
The core values of our tour continue to be:
1. Affordability: We will strive to keep fees as low as possible and may ask parents to volunteer at an event to keep things running smoothly. The annual player registration fee is $70, while individual event fees will generally stay at $65 for 18-hole divisions and $40 for 9-hole divisions. Co-sanctioned or joint events with other tours have their own fee structures.
The cutoff for each event is generally Tuesday before the event. Late entries may be accepted until Thursday evening at 6 p.m. and will incur a $10 late fee. Early registration is encouraged to allow for easier event planning and to ensure entry. A $5 Early Bird credit will be deposited for entries received 8 days prior tot he event! Especially for events that are before or after Daylight Savings Time fields may be limited to allow all players to finish their rounds before darkness hits!
2. Fun: This is for the kids and must be fun for them to want to play. To this end we are allowing parents to caddy and interact with their children. This can be quality family time!
3. Competitiveness: Good competition brings out the best in our children and increases the enjoyment level. To this end we will ask the Championships Divisions to play longer yardages than they may be used to at middle or high school. The Premier Divisions will play age appropriate yardages to help them develop a love for the game. During our Spring and Summer Series, players will earn points towards a seasonal Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour Ranking. We have also joined forces with some long established local two-day events and incorporated them into our points system. All our two day events qualify for National Junior Golf Scoreboard consideration and we offer AJGA and FJT STEP exemptions for those juniors who want to take their game to the next level.
4. Openness: Although we spend a lot of time thinking about what we are doing, we are open to any suggestions that may improve the tour!
With all that being said, we still need to adhere to rules and regulations. Please familiarize yourselves with the policies of the tour - under Rules and Regulations - as they will be enforced for the benefit of the Tour, the players and the integrity of the game!!
